Tragedy of Wan Mohd Azri
On 4th February 2014, MADA General Manager, Dato’ Haji Abdul Rahim bin Saleh visited the family of Allahyarham Wan Mohd Azri bin Wan Mohd Mansor, who died after drowned in the Changileh Canal on 21st October 2013. The tragedy has shocked many locals and received huge media coverage nationally.
Wan Mohd Azri, who was 25 at the time of his passing, worked as a civil technician at Wilayah II MADA
The unfortunate accident happened when the car that he was in on his way to do a site visit, tried to avoid a child who was crossing the road and he skidded into the river.
He was swept away by the strong current, and consequently drowned.It took 3 days for search and rescue mission, carried out jointly by the Kubang Pasu District Fire and Rescue Department, Public Defense Department (JPAM), and also MADA. MADA also provided the extra boats and manpower for the mission.
His body which was recovered in Sungai Korok, was then brought to the Forensic Department of the Jitra District Hospital for a post mortem, before given a ritual prayers and laid to rest at the Felda Bukit Tangga Muslim Cemetery.
During the visit, Dato’ Abdul Rahim presented a donation to the family and also gave words of encouragement and to praise them on their strong will to continue their daily life. Also in the visit was the Director of MADA Management Service Division, Tuan Haji Md Zuki bin Ismail, and the Manager of Wilayah II MADA, Mr. Dzulkifli bin Yaakub.
