Working Visit Menteri Besar of Kedah to MADA


image_gallery (16)The Menteri Besar of Kedah, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Haji Mukhriz Tun Mahathir has made a working visit to the Lembaga Kemajuan Pertanian Muda or Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) on 3rd February 2014 at the MADA Headquarters in Ampang Jajar, Alor Setar, Kedah.

The aim of the visit is to look at MADA’s management approach, its achievement since it was established until the present, and also its goals for the farmers.

He said MADA is an agency that is very important to the state government because MADA is a major contributor in the management of paddy in Kedah, thereby ensuring the country’s paddy supply.image_gallery (17)

According to the Menteri Besar, to ensure Kedah’s role as the country’s “rice bowl”, the state government is giving more focus towards the construction of a new canal to facilitate the irrigational needs in order to enable the farmers to manage their paddy fields more efficiently.

image_gallery (18)He is positive that the construction of this new canal which has been approved by Federal Government would increases the paddy yields.

He said these at the press conference after presenting his key note address in a “meet the farmers and the staff” session at the Headquarters of MADA in Ampang Jajar. This is his first official working visit to MADA since assuming the Menteri Besar post.

In his keynote address, he was proud of MADA success in changing the farmer’s life and the commitment of the agency in developing the paddy industry in the Muda area in line with its slogan, “MADA Pengeluar Padi Negara” or MADA the National Rice Producer.

image_gallery (19)Furthermore, he added that the State Government has always give recognition to the agricultural industry in Kedah especially paddy as it is the major contributor towards the state economy.

He hopes that MADA staffs can perform the entrusted task very well: such as fulfilling the farmers’ needs; taking care of the support system and giving input to the farmers to achieve their aim of improving the paddy yields and MADA farmers’ income.
