Montly Assembly Ceremony with Minister at Syed Nahar Hall, Ampang Jajar MADA Headquater, Alor Setar, Kedah

Monthly Assembly Ceremony of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry was held in 18th July 2010, at Syed Nahar Hall, MADA Headquarters. This is the first monthly assembly at ministry level held in the north zone. All Director Generals, Senior Officers, Departments and agencies Director under Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry in Kedah attended the ceremony.
Malaysian Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Datuk Seri Noh Omar in his speech in the ceremony expressed appreciation and thanks to MADA, Department and agencies under this ministry which successfully give full commitment in making the government and ministry policies a success. He hoped that this effort continues in accordance to 4 main pillars which were government’s goal under the leadership of Prime Minister Dato Mohd. Najib Tun Hj. Abdul Razak.
4 main pillars mentioned are the 1 Malaysia approach, people first, achievement now, Government Transformation Program, New Economic Model and the 10th Malaysian Plan Implementation (10MP).
He stressed on the importance for all ministry’s personnel to give focus to 1 Malaysia, People First, Achievement Now approach. Hence government officers should focus on citizens’ problem from the root, responsive to the people’s aspiration and cared on people’s life. Departments and agencies were asked for implementing Government Transformation Programme promptly, accurately and effectively.
Touching on the pillars of the New Economic Model and 10th Malaysian Plan (10MP) Implementation, he put that implementation as a challenge to officers to collaborate more closely, perform prudent approach with the people and also sensitive to target groups’ problems. He suggested that an efficient and effective information delivery system in stimulating agriculture sector growth by using methods like biotechnology, nanotechnology, green technology and other high engineering.
He asked the whole ministry personnel to take private approach in the effort of channelling aids, subsidies and incentives to farmers, in accordance with government objectives to increase national agricultural production and eradicate poverty in target groups.
In his press conference Datuk Seri Noh Omar asked public to not to be confused by imported meat from India as the beef is actually buffalo meat. He said that meat labelled as “Indian beef” or known in Malaysia as “daging kotak” sold in cheaper price than local beef caused make it a popular choice.
According to him, Malaysia had imported about 80,000 metric tonne of meat from India each year. Import permit (AP) for importing meat and chicken especially for celebration season would be limited to three months only and after that i must be renewed.
The event ended at 2.00 pm with geniality and the high determination to strive to increase productivity and service quality of their respective departments and agencies.
